A favorite town in Georgia is Madison. The care and pride from the local residents is evident. Shouldn't all citizens have pride in their communities? Sadly many don't.
Enjoy our pictures of beautiful Madison.
New construction is designed to blend with the old
Madison is dog friendly so Annie was happy.
Hey, this is only about 15 minutes from my Dad! Madison is really pretty! Did you know that Oliver Hardy spent part of his childhood there? (From Laurel and Hardy.)
ReplyDeleteNo, I did not know that. Thanks for telling me. A town near us (Harlem,GA) has a Laurel and Hardy museum and a festival every year. I should do a blog post on it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have wanted to visit that festival in Harlem!
DeleteIf you look at my blog, you will see a photo of Laurel & Hardy at the bottom! I love them, they were great! xx
If you are ever in this area (near the Monastery or Stone Mountain, send me an email and let me know, would love to meet you! (Or Madison for that matter!)
I will do that! Same here, if you get to the festival or in this area. I look forward to meeting you.
ReplyDeleteHi There, I may have mentioned this before, but when we were visiting my brother in the nursing home in Jacksonville, FL (before he died), we always would drive on the back roads of GA. I love seeing all of those small towns --and seeing how proud they are of their communities... Great group of pictures.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Thanks Betsy. We are transplants to GA and I love learning about my new home state. I hope you are feeling better. BTW your cabin is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt's been many years since I've visited Madison. Your photos brought back sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Mildred!
DeleteI think i e been through madison- i love small towns so much!!
ReplyDeleteThey are full of charm Debbi.
DeleteWhat a beautiful town! It looks very peaceful and cared with love and pride, as you say.
ReplyDeleteAnnie looks beautiful too. :)
Have a happy weekend!
Thanks Sara. I hope you have a good weekend too.
DeleteI love old Southern towns like this. We drive through GA when we travel and always stay in Statesboro. Love the horse mural! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, We like Statesboro too and usually stop there when we head to the coast. I admit - since I am fairly new to the area - I get it mixed up with Swainsboro!
DeleteMadison looks like a beautiful town -- we'll have to get there some day.
ReplyDeleteBTW, thanks for the birthday wishes.
You're welcome :-) Yes, you and Betsy would love Madison - well, except there are no mountains!
